Recs Sunday X1 v West Derby Old Boys

IN their first Sunday game for four years, Recs Skipper Dutch Holland, having won the toss, asked the Old Boys to bat on a damp wicket.

Some tight bowling from Magee and Williams, had the opening batsmen in trouble from the start, with Magee having Martin caught behind for nought - ct dad, bowled lad - by Al Magee; a tremendous diving, one handed effort. Magee - lad - was again in on the action bowling Morley for 9.

With an enforced change of bowling, Old Boys scored freely, until Jones entered the attack, taking 3 wickets in his spell for 8 runs. Skipper Holland bowled within himself with just 10 runs coming from his 5 overs. Youngster Danny Magee - our youngest member at 13, came on to bowl 2 overs and taking a wicket - stumped by his Dad - Al Magee - another Dad and lad combo.

Old Boy's finished on 118 from their 40 overs. Rob Morris in his spell, disposed of White for 36 - caught and bowled.

The Rec's were in the hunt after the tea interval, and were well up on the run-rate, with Hatton scoring 27 - including a massive 6, which cleared the fence - and Rob Magee helping himself to 20. The middle order collapsed, with Hulstrom posting 10 runs, before the final wicket fell on 76.
