EVERTON kick off their FA premier reserve League season at the Auto Quest Stadium in Widnes on August 21 with the prospect of a big name line-up to face newly promoted Manchester City.

Amongst the stars potentially on show are top goal scorer Kevin Campbell and the most charismatic player of his generation, Paul Gascoigne.

Campbell is due to return after a lengthy absence from a knee injury and may figure in the squad prior to first team action.

Gascoigne, who is looking to repay the faith shown in him by manager Walter Smith and desperate to regain full match fitness and push for a first team place, may well get a run out to get some match practice.

Ex-Goodison boss Joe Royle has worked wonders in bringing Manchester City up from Second and First Divisions into the Premiership and, without a doubt, the team will be well organised with a steady defence and should provide a stern test for the Toffees.

The match will also be the first occasion that the new admission arrangements made between Everton FC and stadium owners Halton Council will come into effect.

Children under 14 can enjoy the game free of charge while the cost for adults and children over 14 is just £1.

Additionally, all children who register at the stadium and complete an application form will receive free membership to Everton's Junior Strikers Supporters Club, which would normally cost £12 and affords members a great range of benefits.

Cllr Phil Harris, executive board member for sport said: "We are delighted to welcome Everton FC and their fans back to the Autoquest. The first match promises to provide an excellent start to the season with the prospect of some great players turning out and we hope to see lots of parents bringing along their children to take advantage of our great offer."

Everton v Manchester City kicks off at 7pm on Monday, August 21 and advance tickets are available from the stadium reception, Lowerhouse Lane, Widnes.
