Heswall 2 General Chemicals 0

THIS was a one-sided affair for Gen Chems but unfortunately chance after chance went begging.

Centre backs Robbie Moore and Mark Robinson were outstanding, with the latter particularly catching the eye. Terry Ellams also had a fine game.

Centre forward Chris Lloyd first missed a simple header and shortly after the big striker forced the Heswall keeper to make a fingertip save as he turned a shot onto goal.

Paul Howard ran at the defence, however, but took too much time for his shot and was eventually tackled by the Heswall centre back.

On the half-hour mark it was disaster for Chemics. With the ball safe with the keeper Hughson, full back Davie McGee was adjudged to have fouled the Heswall winger and the same player made no mistake from the spot.

This was the first time the home player got anywhere near to the Runcorn team's penalty box.

The second half saw the introduction of Kev Jacques for Steve Arnold and Daz Moore for the injured Mickey Hill. Both players did well, but as Chemics pressed for the equaliser, the home team broke and scored the second goal deep into injury time.

The only consolation for the travelling fans was that no one player could be faulted. The Chemics will be hoping to collect all three points in the next games, against Maghull away tonight (Wednesday) and at home to Ashville on Saturday.

The £100 draw was won by D Robinson with number 29.
