CREWE FC got off to a disappointing start in the First Division of the Mid Cheshire League with a 3-1 defeat against Garswood.

Donovan Brown levelled before the interval at the Cumberland Sports Ground but two penalties ended the home side's hopes.

Manager Ian O'Riely said: "I'm disappointed. We just didn't get out of the starting blocks after looking so good in pre-season.

"They were a physical side and we just didn't compete."

O'Riely has bolstered his squad's firepower with the signing of former Nantwich Town forward Andy Lock.

The Club's Community Coaching Project begins on Tuesday, September 26, at the Cumberland at 6.30pm, costing youngsters £1 for 1 hour of top coaching and a Junior Team Managers course takes place on Sunday, September 3, costing only £10.
