FARMERS in the borough are being urged to keep public footpaths clear during the harvesting season.
The Cheshire branch of the Country Landowners Association has reminded farmers they must obey the ploughing code or risk prosecution and fines for obstructing rights of way.
Cheshire regional director with the CLA, Frances Beatty, said: "Most farmers are aware of their responsibilities but at a very busy time if year it is all to easy to forget to restore a rarely used footpath after cultivation."
