WEEKS of nail biting and endless pacing came to an end last week as the A Level results were announced in the borough.

Students in Crewe and Sandbach descended upon their schools to open their envelopes and plan their next steps.

Claire Armstrong and Samantha Bostock of Sandbach High School both achieved four A grades, Claire, in English Literature, Economics, French and Psychology and Samantha in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Economics.

Other high achievers at Sandbach High School included Hayley Jenkins, Jessica Williams, Catherine Baxter, Amy Clarke and Lisa Bergmanus who all scored three grade As and Shahrzad Hodaei and Kathryn Vickers who got two grade As and one B each.

In Crewe, pupils were equally as nervous at South Cheshire College but results were again remarkable.

Former Ruskin High pupil, Hayley Elliot achieved straight A grades, with Arwel Davies, achieving two As and one B grade.

Kris Edwards from Haslington got two As and two Bs as did Robert Gough.

Acting Principal at South Cheshire said: "The students are to be congratulated for these outstanding results with the pass rate exceeding the national average and beating the college record by 5 per cent."

Sandbach High School achieved a pass rate of 94 per cent and Headteacher John Leigh said: "I am delighted that the efforts of the students and staff have been rewarded by such pleasing results."

Sandbach School hit a 96 per cent pass rate with one student, Mark Tudor, getting five A levels with four grade As and one B.
