Prime target Dean Greygoose signed for Chester City last week, after impressing for Witton in their pre-season friendlies.

The prospect of returning to Conference football while City No.1 Wayne Brown serves a three-match ban, was too tempting for the former Northwich Vics stopper to turn down.

Should Albion fail to sign a replacement, Phil McGing will start between the sticks.

"It was a blow when Dean signed for Chester. If we can get somebody full time we'll go with them, but the door will be open to Dean because he did very well for us in pre-season," said Gleghorn.

Striker Mike Turner has returned to Wincham Park, along with former Vics full back Mark Sims, as Gleghorn begins his second full season in management steeled for another promotion assault.

He said: "It will be a bit harder this year because a lot of teams were surprised by the way we played

"But I feel the squad is very good and we will be giving it our best shot again. There's a desire to put right what went wrong last year.

"We lost 1-0 in the FA Cup to Ferriby last season, but we've got to show them that this UniBond League is not going to be easy.

"We've got to get about them and go at it the way we ended last season. We have to make sure our unbeaten run continues.

"Last year was a bit different. We started badly, but I was still getting to know the players and they were getting to know me.

"We were stuck for a way to play in the first couple of games. and it showed."

Albion follow up North Ferriby with two away trips, to Chorley on Tuesday (7.45pm) and Harrogate Town a week on Saturday.

The derby against Winsford United follows at Barton Stadium on August Bank Holiday Monday.
