A GRAND charity golf day has been organised by The Children's Mitochondrial Disease Network at Worsley Park Golf Club.

This annual event, which takes place on Friday Spetember 22 is for the Kristen Preston Memorial Golf Trophy. Kristen would have been eight years old on September 23.

Teams of four are invited to participate in the 18 hole four ball Stableford Competiion.

There'll be individual trophies, use of Marriott Leisure Club, a four course gala dinner, celebrity guest speaker after dinner, and a charity auction.

Patron of the group John Savident - alias Fred Elliot from Coronation Street - will be donating two signed cardigans, signed photograph, Elliot's shop bag and Fred Elliott umbrella.

Stars who will be appearing at the auction are John Savident, Norman Whiteside and James H Reeve.

There'll also be memorabilia from Coronation Street villain, Jez Quigley.

Other items at the auction include a £1,500 holiday voucher from Airtours; signed boxing shorts by Chris Eubank and Prince Naseem Hammed and a Manchester City signed football from the 1999/2000 season.

Money raised from the event will improve awareness and raise even further the whole profile of genetic diseases.

Paul said: "This is not just a memorial to Kristen but a living memorial to honour all children who may currently suffer or whom have already died of this terrible condition - including Stacey and Kieran."

The cost of entering a team of four is £260. Ring Duncan on 0161-839 9786 for details. Entries must be 14 days in advance.
