THERE'S a new location for Northwich's third annual water festival - it is moving to the Anderton Boat Lift.

Visitors can enjoy a host of festivities and hands on activities at the event, to be held on Sunday, September 17.

For boating enthusiasts there will be heritage boats, boat trips and a water taxi to ferry them to the festival site.

There's also the chance to discover how the restoration work on the unique lift is progressing, with regular presentations and an open day between 11am and 5.30pm.

A new book "Anderton Boat Lift" will be available, with author Dave Carden on hand to sign copies.

Other activities include a falconry display, fairground rides and demonstrations of heritage skills, such as willow weaving.

The day is rounded off with an evening barbecue and firework display with music from the Bogtrotters.

Tickets cost £3 from the Britsh Waterways office on Navigation Road in Northwich or ring Fiona MacDonald on 01244 390372.
