IT'S been the best A Level result year ever for St Nicholas High School in Hartford.

For the first time in the school's history students have broken through the '25 average points score per student' barrier.

Headteacher, Gerard Boyle said: "All the members of the community at St Nicholas have taken great delight in the excellent results achieved by our students, which amply demonstrate their own commitment and that of all the staff."

There were many creditable performances - but some deserve special mention.

Nicola Lynch, of Mornant Avenue in Hartford, gained four A grades in maths, geography, French and general studies and will be studying geography at Sheffield.

Thomas Conway gained four A grades and will read English at Leeds and James Cameron, of Holmes Chapel, gained three A grades and one B grade and will read chemistry at Oxford.
