THERE were celebrations at The Grange School, Hartford, which received its best ever A Level results.

Some 90 per cent of pupils obtained grades A-C and 52 per cent of passes were at the top A Grade.

Headmistress Jenny Stephen was delighted with the results.

She said: "This has been a very good year, and a lot of hard work from pupils and staff has been given its reward.

"The figures show no significant difference in performance between boys and girls. While this is contrary to the national trend, it does prove that a well-run co-educational school can get the best out of every pupil, regardless of their gender.

"So many talented young people will now be able to go on to their first choice of university and course."

The Grange received high praise in its inspection report last year and did particularly well in its entry to Oxford and Cambridge. Work has started this week on a £2 million development for new classrooms.
