THERE were two disturbing and significant events in the Warrington Summer Darts League this week which concerns all Monday Division Three teams.

Penny Ferry should have played at home to Kings Head but when the visitors arrived in the two taxis they had hired, they found the host team not able to field a side without any notice having been given.

This is the second time Penny Ferry have breached the rules in this way so they are now on a final warning.

St. Benedicts won at The Maltings where upon The Maltings subsequently dropped out of the League saying they could not fulfil their remaining obligations.

Opposing teams will be credited with 9-0 wins against The Maltings in the rest of the summer programme.

A match which did matter was Adelphi's 7-2 win over Poacher which brought them level at the top of the division but Poacher have a postponed match with Alford Sports to arrange.

Causeway caught up with their outstanding fixtures with double header wins at Seven Woods.

In the other divisions on Monday, Penketh Cons lost a neck and neck contest at home to St. Stephens when C. Jackson took the last leg for Saints, whose captain S. Ralphs won in 11 darts.

Alliance B had success at Howley with Mick Birmingham, 13 and Bob Rankin, 14, setting a fine standard.

Imperial had Phil Barker in fine form with 15 as they beat Jolly Tanner and a 14 from Joe Tart could not prevent Warrington Town losing at home to King and Queen.

In Division One Neil Addison stormed in with a 10-darter as Gas Social beat Hawthorne.

Steve Hayes, Dog and Partridge, and Pete Vernon, Corner House, both hit 15s but it was the Dog who won a tight if fortunate victory.

New Alliance A drew with Penketh Sports and Social in a high standard match in which Dave Carey was the pick with 14.

Smithys won at Butchers Arms with Ken Waddell, 12 and Ken Atkinson, 14, to the fore but Butchers, who use the summer season to blood 'lesser lights', still maintained high morale as they gained experience.

On Friday night, Marquis only had four players at Gas Social and New Alliance B had a shock win at Corner House.

Imperial beat Hawthorne when Mick Robertson took the last leg in 18 darts. New Alliance A were too good for St. Stephens with Archie Goodier best in an 11 darts win.

Steve Smith and Eric Corlett hit 14s with Ron Hughes abetting in 15 as Kings Club won at home to Cheshire Cheese.
