RYLANDS A stayed top of the Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association Monday League this week.

The 10-4 win over St. Oswalds A included Ken Armitage's 21-6 and Stuart Goodwin's 21-7.

King and Queen A are a point behind in second. Their 10-4 win over Monk Sports A included Brian Taylor's 21-5 card.

Grange assured themselves of third spot with an 11-4 win at GESM A. Tony Litherland was the top winner, 21-3. Trevor Jackson won 21-6 for GESM.

Bernard Carroll won 21-3 as Alford A defeated Tetley A 9-5. N. Kelly won 21-10 for the visitors.

Farmers A beat Touchers A 10-4. J. Thomason was the top winner, 21-12. Mike Welsby replied with a 21-7 card.

Saracens B maintained their lead in Section E with a 10-4 win over Greenalls A. S. Turner, 21-8 and Tom Grant, 21-10, were the best winners. R. Leigh won 21-11 for the visitors.

Bank Quay A kept the pressure on with an 11-4 victory at St. Albans. C. Cartlidge, 21-5 and P. Hampson, 21-6, performed well. S. Gomersall took the home sweep 21-6.

Dave Conroy, 21-4 and W. Sixsmith, 21-5, helped Smithys to an 11-3 success against Alford B.

Joe Massey won 21-2 as Pierpoints B defeated Orford WM A 11-3. E. Sauce took the visitors' sweep 21-11.

N. Edgar, 21-2 and J. Goode, 21-5, set Vulcan on the way to a 9-5 success over Transport B. Eric Cooper and F. Brinksman replied with 21-6 cards.

Daten A are champions of Section F. They won 9-6 at second-placed Monk Sports B. Best winners were E. Appleton, 21-7 and T. Gandy, 21-9. Monk's Tommy Hindley won 21-7.

Kings Club's 9-6 win at Grange C included Roy Newey's 21-9 sweep winner. W. Broadhurst replied with a 21-11 card.

A 21-7 win from Tony Acton led Red Lion C to an 11-4 success at Greenalls B. L. Mahoney took the home sweep 21-10.

Rylands C defeated St. Oswalds C 9-5. Keith Bate, 21-5 and J. Harris, 21-6, were the top winners. K. Green won 21-6 for the visitors.

Richmonds B won 9-6 at Pierpoints C. The best card was a 21-10 win by J. Aston.

A 14-1 win at Alford C has given Monk Sports C a 13-point lead at the top of Section G. T. Chapman, 21-1 and A. Robinson, 21-6, were the best winners. Brent Carroll was the only home winner, 21-7.

Second-placed Tetley C had an 11-4 win at Brooklands B. Arthur Lawton took the sweep 21-10.

Third-placed St. Josephs lost ground after a 9-5 defeat at Plough A. A. Bailey, 21-6 and R. Hazell, 21-7, were Plough's tops.

Wes Scott, 21-6 and F. Thompson, 21-7, led Bulls Head B to a 10-4 victory over GESM C. K. Mara, 21-2, K. Bond and B. Bell, 21-3, were the best of 10 Burtonwood B winners in the 12-2 joy over Touchers C.

Section H is a two-horse race between leaders Eagle B and Orford WM C. Eagle won 12-3 at King and Queen C. R. McCracken took the sweep 21-6. Orford defeated their B team 9-6 away. Captain Joe Maher did the damage with a 21-3 win. T. Caton won 21-9 for the B.

R. Thompson, 21-9 and B. Hegan, 21-10, were Irish Club's top winners in the 11-3 victory over Stag B.

C. Lamb won 21-8 for Daten B in their 10-4 win over Woolston C. Bank Quay B remained third after a 10-4 win.

RYLANDS A won Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association's Silcock Cup by one chalk against Rylands B. The A team, giving away a 45 chalk start, erased 38 with the first four winners. Carl Armitage and skipper Dave Penketh both won 21-9. Rylands B fought back with three winners in the middle. Man of the match, Roy Mather, won 21-13 to increase the lead to 21.
