Squires Gate 3

Tetley Walker 1

TETLEY Walker left Blackpool wondering how they lost their opening game of the season.

Squires Gate were outplayed in a game which Tetley dominated and created endless opportunities.

Last season's top goal scorer Barry Edwardson was in the thick of the action, twice hitting the post, drawing a top class save from Squires Gate goalkeeper Gareth Gray, and having a second minute headed goal ruled out for being off side by the narrowest of margins.

Gray proved to be an unbeatable barrier for Tetley's attackers, who were thwarted several times by the goalkeeper. He was beaten in the 28th minute by his own centre-half Brian Manchester, who sent a looping header over Gray and into his own net.

The home side had taken the lead, against the run of play, in the sixth minute, when Chris Chetwood sprung Tetley's off side trap to race away and shot past Lee Medland.

As Tetley continued to create and waste goal-scoring opportunities, Steve Longworth was left unmarked in the 65th minute to score Squires Gate's second goal.

Pushing more players forward in search of an equaliser, Tetley were caught out at the back again as Lee Shockledge scored Squires Gate's third goal of the game with only their third shot of the game.

Tetley: Medland, Corns, Lowe, Ellaby, Trantum, Jones, Gleave, Sing, Edwardson, Griffiths, Healey. Subs used: Tastan.
