DETECTIVES are appealing to clubbers for information after a young woman was seriously injured in a hit and run incident outside Mr Smiths.

The 20-year-old victim, from Bromborough, was hit by a silver Honda motorcycle as she crossed the road at 2.30am on Sunday.

Ignoring a red traffic light, the rider of the bike and a pillion passenger ploughed into the woman, knocking her to the floor and leaving her with leg, foot and head injuries.

She was taken to Warrington Hospital, but has since been transferred to the Countess of Chester Hospital where her injuries are described as serious.

Police were already following the bike after witnessing an earlier offence, but were unable to catch up with the vehicle as it travelled towards St Helens. The bike, registration CLB 712Y, had been reported stolen from St Helens.

They are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the bike prior to the incident or as the rider fled from the scene, or anyone who can identify the rider or passenger.

Anyone who may have seen the bike earlier on Saturday is also asked to contact them with information.

To contact Warrington CID, call 652222. Information can also be left on the Crimestoppers line in confidence on 0800 555 111.
