THE search is on to find people who are good listeners, have some spare time and are willing to help others.

Victim Support is looking for volunteers in Widnes and Runcorn.

It is the only national organisation which offers support advice and practical assistance to victims of crime.

Sue Connolly, northern branch co-ordinator for Cheshire, said: "If you are interested in the effects of crime, are a good listener and have one or two mornings to spare, why not come along and meet our team of volunteers.

"You will have the opportunity to learn more about the scheme and its work."

You will find out how volunteers visit victims of crime and assist them in the Crown Court, as part of the witness service.

"You will also see our team at work - filmed by Granada TV," said Sue. "There will be an opportunity to ask questions, take part in our burglary quiz and join us for refreshments."

For further details and to book a place, please phone Sue Connolly on 01925 419339.
