MARK Weston added to his collection of honours at Widnes Golf Club on Sunday with a comfortable victory in the President's Putter, one of the principal events on the Highfield Road calendar.

The nine handicapper posted a gross score of 72, three over par, to give him a two-stroke winning margin over Brian Holmes and Peter Heston. Holmes, playing off five, took second prize by virtue of his better back nine, a level par 34 which gave him an excellent gross score of 70.

Heston's score of 77-12=65 kept him ahead of a trio of a trio of players on 66 - Keith Musgrave, John Bright and Mark Fraser, while the veterans' prize went to Brian Farrell for his 81-13=68.

For Fraser it Was a red letter day. His level par round brought his handicap - the lowest in the club - down by another two percentage points to push him through the elusive two barrier which signifies players have reached county standard.
