A CHILDREN'S rugby tournament and charity fun event was hailed a huge success this week.

Youngsters from 15 teams throughout the North West came to Widnes to tackle each other in a series of friendly games.

Around £200 was raised for Radio City's Give A Child A Chance appeal.

Bradford Bulls made a guest appearance on Sunday.

It is the third time West Bank Bears have hosted the two-day event in McDermott Road, West Bank.

Organiser, West Bank Bears secretary Phil Butler said: "It was a success, everyone enjoyed it.

"The younger age group rules progress every year towards full rugby league rules.

"The idea of this is to teach the new rules before the season starts."

Lots of family fun activities are organised to keep the children occupied as they wait for their matches to be played.

West Bank Bears are trying to develop an under 12 team. This week, they appealed for new players.
