Carlsberg West Cheshire League Division Three

Mond Rangers Res 2

Mallaby 2

THIS early season top of the table clash produced three goals in the first 10 minutes as Mond struggled to overcome the four changes from midweek.

Mond started brightly and took the lead after five minutes through a 30 yard shot from Craig Beaumont hitting the angle of post and crossbar before crossing the line.

Mond were caught napping at the back, three minutes later when John Goodall equalised against the run of play.

More misery was to follow for Mond two minutes later as Lee Myler crept round the back of the Mond defence and beat Stuart Kirby at the near post.

To Mond's credit they got back into the game with the equaliser after 25 minutes.

A free kick by John Kehoe proved too hot for the keeper to handle and Carl Greer netted on the follow up.

Mond were unsteady at the back and Mallaby looked to retake the lead on three or four occasions.

Simon Worthington and Jimmy Barlow caused Mallaby problems as Mond also threatened to take the lead.

Kevin Hammond went close after 65 minutes and the Mallaby keeper kept his team level after a Simon Worthington shot nearly picked out the top corner.

In the latter stages after early mistakes Stuart Kirby made some good stops to earn Mond a point.

Mom, Kevin Hammond.

In midweek Mond Res trounced St Werburghs 7-2 playing some wonderful one touch football.

Andy Gott put Mond two goals up, Kevin Morris chipped the keeper from 25 yards.

Simon Worthington sprinted past the Werburgh's defence and slotted passed the keeper.

Gott completed his hat-trick before two late goals from Werburgh threatened Mond but Danny Russell and Jimmy Barlow restored Mond's five goal lead in the latter stages.

Cammel Laird 2

Mond Rangers 1

ROBBIE GIBBONS pulled Mond level but a goal by local Neil Larkin in the sixth minute of injury time proved a cruel blow to Mond who had enough chances to take all the points.

Shell 1

Mond Rangers 1

MOND were a goal down inside 20 seconds as Shell scored straight from the kick-off.

A poor game ended as a drab draw.

Kevin Ward equalised in the 68th minute to present Shell with their first point of the season.
