DOZENS of Biddulph residents have joined forces to oppose plans to redevelop waste ground.

Disused land behind houses along Oxhey Drive is earmarked for residential development, which would include pulling down an unsightly prefab shed.

The land is at Smithy Lane Farm, and the scheme has sparked a 32-name petition from local residents.

They claimed access from the site onto Smithy Lane would be dangerous and congested, and the land provided a pleasant green 'buffer' zone.

Moorlands planners say residential development on the site is acceptable in principle, subject to conditions.
