THE milestone barrier of £100,000 has been broken by Leighton Hospital's Diabetes Appeal.

The appeal aims to raise £500,000 over a period of three years in order to create a one-stop diabetes centre at the hospital.

Last Thursday saw the £100,000 mark broken within two months of the appeal's launch.

Exactly £102,560 has been raised and Appeals Officer, Janet Slack, said: "This is wonderful news and just the start we needed. I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard to raise the money."

The centre will provide vital services for local diabetes sufferers and their families.
