THE success of last week's A Level's in Nantwich was followed up this week with equally astounding GCSE results.

Both Malbank and Brine Leas schools enjoyed results above the national average of 56 per cent of exams passed at A-C level.

Every student at Malbank school gained at least five GCSE passes with 60 per cent gaining a least five A-C passes.

Several students also achieved 10 GCSEs and headteacher, Allan Kettleday said: "I am delighted not only for our many high-fliers but for candidates from across the whole ability range who achieved the results they needed to move-on into further education or into a good job."

Brine Leas also had 60 per cent gaining A-C passes for five or more subjects and had 20 year 10 students, who had been entered a year early for their GCSE in Maths, passing at A or A* level.

The school had a 65 per cent pass rate at A-C overall and headteacher Mike Butler said: "This has been an excellent set of results with students achieving grades that reflect their hard work and the commitment of their teachers."

Brine Leas' star students included straight A-students Melanie Hockenhull and Katie Riley, as well as Sonia Leese, Liz Bowett, Fleur Norman, Steven Davenport and Tom Whittaker who all gained several A and A* grades each.

Holly Walden, who scored 9 A and A*s and 2Bs, Kevin Lomas, who got eight GCSEs with one A and four Bs and Laurence Carolis, with nine GCSEs inlcuding one A and seven Bs.
