A NEW residents' association has been set up in Maw Green to try and give people a say in the way their area develops.

The association is also hoping to set up a base similar to the Our House facility in Frank Webb Avenue, Crewe.

One of the three councillors for the Maw Green area, Tracey Hale maintained the association is the best way forward for the area.

"An active residents association is the best way that communities get the facilities and support they need," she said.

"We are looking for a meeting place directly in the area and we hope to have a similar facility to Our House which is very successful in the St Barnabus Ward," she added.

The initiative involves both the borough and county council as well as the police, local schools and the youth service.

The last meeting was held last week and was attended by representatives from the youth services and Crewe police and borough councillors. Council officers have also attended meetings.

A questionnaire has been circulated to residents and the aims and objectives of the group will be based around the response.

"This is an ambitious project and I strongly urge people to get involved to improve their area," added Cllr Hale.
