STUDENTS of all ages were celebrating success in their GCSEs at Mid Cheshire College.

This year the overall percentage of students gaining A to C grades has increased and a significant number of A and A* grades were achieved.

There were some very good subject results including GCSE Spanish which had an A to C pass rate of 86 per cent with four students gaining A* and two A grades.

English had three A* and three A grades and Psychology had one student achieving grade A and three with grade B. Integrated Science results which are significantly higher than the national average.

Principal John Howard said: "We are now begining to see the results of the national campaign Lifelong Learning with more people choosing to improve their grades or attempt qualifications they wished they had gained years ago."

Britannnia Airlines cabin manager Diane Bown, 56, from Barnton, was delighted to get an A in Spanish which she studied part-time at the college's Verdin Centre in Winsford.

Assistant Cook at Mid Cheshire College Sally Birtwistle achieved A* in English.

Martin Lindop, 31, from Greenbank, returned to college full-time after working at Morrison's Distribution Centre, in Rudheath. He gained a GCSE grade B in English, C in Maths, C/C in Science and hopes to take A levels to become a physiotherapist.
