INDIE legends the Charlatans will be hoping to meet 'some friendly' councillors in the next few weeks when they discover 'how high' their ambitions for a new recording studio will reach.

They may have conquered the music world, but the band have recently hit a stumbling block - Congleton Borough Council.

The band started recording new material at the start of the year at a recording studio in Middlewich.

But they were told they needed planning permission for a change of use for the building.

They have now submitted an application to the planning department so they can continue to record at the studio on Lewin Street.

The decision will be made at the next planning committee meeting on September 25.
