BURSCOUGH rescued a point with the last touch of the game against Vics Reserves on Friday night.

After a series of fine saves by Paul Williams, Vics came back into the game and deservedly took the lead on 36 minutes.

Lee Poland ran on to James Birdsey's pass and drove past former Winsford United goalkeeper John Bagnall.

Ten minutes into the second half, the competitive nature of the game was spoiled when Burscough midfielder Phil Hall, on trial from Torquay United, broke his leg going into a challenge with Birdsey, and the game was held up for 25 minutes.

Sub Alan Glover missed a golden chance to make it 2-0 when he volleyed Wayne McDermott's cross over from six yards, one of many missed chances which cost Vics dear.

It was another sub, Porter, who rescued a point for Burscough when he lifted the ball over Williams and headed into an empty after the keeper and his defenders had left the ball for each other.

Vics: Williams, Royle, McDermott, Birdsey, Walsh, Boothby, Houghton, Carthy, Lunt, Poland, Doherty. Subs used: Glover, Evans.
