The Knutsford Guardian tried to contact the Egerton Youth Club trustees after local parents demanded to know more about them.

But despite repeated calls to Richard Hollinshead's office he was unavailable for comment and an e-mail to Timothy Bartlett went unanswered.

Yesterday (Tuesday) management committee spokesman Rick Dallimore said Mr Hollinshead was probably too busy to talk.

"He is a leading London solicitor and sometimes I have difficulty in speaking to him," he said.

The management committee had promised parents access to the Mereheath Lane club's accounts and paperwork after they closed the youth club in July.

But so far the finances have remained a mystery and none of the paperwork has been seen.

However, Mr Dallimore said the accounts were being audited and there was nothing to worry about.

"People are looking for things that are not there," he said.

"When we have the information the parents can see it in due course."

Mr Dallimore described last week's meeting with three members of the new parent committee as 'positive.'

Work has started on tidying the club and preparations have been made for the football season.

But the club has been dogged by rumour since it was closed temporarily.

Parents were concerned that the land might be sold to a housing developer.

But in a written statement the management committee insisted that would not happen.

And last week Bert Grange denied accusations that he had resigned from the committee.

"I am more involved than ever," he said.
