A YOUTH from Great Sankey was kicked, punched and robbed during an unprovoked attack outside Birchwood Tennis Centre on Friday night.

The 16-year-old was kept in Warrington Hospital overnight following the incident, which left him with a broken nose and bruising to his face.

He was jumped as he walked along Brock Road towards Birchwood station at around 10pm. Two males and two females approached the youth from behind and asked him what he was looking at.

In an attempt to defuse the situation, he offered them a cigarette but they refused. One of the males asked him how much money he had in his wallet and he replied that he only had £1.

Despite this, the two males punched him in the face several times and knocked him to the floor, then carried on kicking him before making off with around £70 from his wallet.

Following the attack, they ran from the scene. Paramedics were then called and the youth was taken to Warrington Hospital.

Sgt Pete Cash, of Warrington police, said: "During the attack, the two girls were referred to as Babs and Jess and we would like to speak to anyone who can identify them.

"The victim has also given a detailed description of one of the offenders. He is white, aged in his late teens to early 20s, around 6ft tall, with light brown hair in a skinhead style, cut on a number two."

Anyone who was in the area on Friday night or anyone who can identify the group is asked to contact the police.

Anyone with information can call DC Richard Langford on 652222.
