ANY hopes of a victory for Crewe CC were dashed by the terrible weather against rock-bottom Ashcombe Park on Saturday.
After a three hour delay, Crewe began their innings and despite losing two early wickets recovered through Waddington (34) and Kulkarni (49) to put on 64 in 11 overs.
With four batting points in the bag, captain Simon Walton declared on 150 for 7 off just 27 overs giving them about the same amount of balls to force an unlikely victory.
Kulkarni dismantled the top order by taking four wickets and one from Ian Roberts saw Ashcombe reeling on 37 for 5.
Unfortunately the rain returned to thwart Crewes victory bid but they still stay six points clear at the top of the table.
No game this week and victories in their last two at Stafford (Sep 9) and at home to Kidsgrove (Sept 16) should see promotion to Division One Section A next year.
