A PAIR of thugs assaulted a woman and her son as they walked through Sankey Valley Park on Tuesday afternoon.
The victims were enjoying a family day out when they were approached by the two men who then carried out the attack.
Although they both sustained injuries, neither of the victims needed hospital treatment.
Detectives investigating the case are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who can identify the offenders.
The first man is described as white, 5ft 10ins, aged between 20 and 22 years with a dark complexion and dark, greasy shoulder length hair.
He was wearing a dark blue track suit with stripes down the side and dark footwear.
The second offender is white, 6ft tall, aged between 20 and 24 years with short, blond hair and a clear complexion.
He was wearing a dark track suit, a white t-shirt and a dark cap with ear muffs.
