THROUGH the Warrington GUARDIAN I would like to reassure people that at least Warrington Trust Hospital cares for the elderly.

My 91-year-old mother was admitted into the hospital when she collapsed and after initial tests was put into the care of Dr Barton on Ward B17, later being transferred to Ward B18.

Mum was in hospital almost 14 weeks and throughout that time was treated with the utmost kindness, care and consideration, which could not be faulted.

Dr Barton is without doubt a marvellous consultant and nothing was too much trouble for him. He kept me informed of mum's condition all the time and conducted numerous tests to try to help her.

Unfortunately mum deteriorated and could only be kept comfortable, and then the hospital staff cared for me as well, when staying over-night and during my long vigil at mum's bedside.

I am aware the NHS has had much adverse publicity lately and this has been written to try to address the balance and to pass my heartfelt thanks to Dr Barton and all his wonderful staff.
