AS AN infrequent visitor to Queen's Gardens I can't claim the vast knowledge of its toilets, seedy gents in brown macs or dossers that Maurice Du Prez obviously has, letters page last week's GUARDIAN.
Perhaps I have been too delighted with this small oasis of calm and colour to worry at the intentions, honourable or otherwise, of other visitors.
Possibly the garden and the town would benefit if it was restored to its Victorian splendour, a heritage we could proudly show visitors whom I'm sure will prefer that view to the slab of concrete that, surprisingly for a country gentleman, Mr Du Prez would replace it with.
