SCULPTORS are due to transform playing fields with a huge metal kite.
The kite will be about 45 feet in height and more than 20 feet across, and made from stone, steel and copper.
Playing fields off Church Road in Biddulph are earmarked for the landscape sculpture, part of a major scheme of environmental improvements for Biddulph East.
The kite would be 120 metres from the nearest houses in Church Close, and Moorlands planners say it would improve the environment.
The playing fields are among 10 sites in Biddulph East identified for improvements, which have received funding from West Midlands Arts, the Arts Council and the Single Regeneration Budget.
The roundabout at St Johns Road is also due to be brightened up by a series of flower beds featuring primulas, pansies, marigolds and geraniums.
