CROSFIELDS fitness and a hat-trick of tries from winger Ian Hannon proved to be the winning factors in their opening game of the National Conference League Division Two season.
Although Crosfields never played at their best they deserved their win for their more enterprising play.
In the forwards, Russ Mellor had an outstanding game with his strong running and was well backed up by man of the match John Bannon.
In the backs, full back Russ Parkman gave an outstanding display in defence.
Young centre Fraser Linekar, on his debut for the first team, played well.
Soap fought back from 12-2 and 24-16 behind during the game and only clinched the win in the dying seconds with a try by winger Andy Holroyd.
Crosfields other try scorer was scrum half David Gibbons while centre Mike Redmond landed three penalties and one conversion.
This week Crosfields are away to Castlefield Panthers with the coach leaving at 11.30am from Hood Lane.
