I WAS at the Town Hall on Wednesday night to await the result of the outcome of the Warrington Wolves' future concerning the new stadium.

The result was one of the most important moves in Warrington Rugby League history, this keeping us in Super League and hoping to make a name for ourselves with the top teams.

I felt on top of the world when the result was announced 7-4 for the go ahead for the stadium. People were hugging each other and tears of joy were being shed. It was a great and moving time, a time I won't forget.

After being on such a high on that night I soon came back to earth with the shocking news that Peter Deakin was quitting Warrington Wolves to join Sale Sharks Rugby Union Club. What's going on at Wilderspool?

I've been a member of Warrington Wolves for 25 years and Peter Deakin is one of the best executives Warrington Rugby League Club has ever had.

He gets behind the team 100 per cent, listens to the fans and makes things happen. He is a great man who knows his job and it's so sad to see a man of his calibre leaving the Wolves.

Looking to the future the stadium is a big step in the right direction. Let's hope the 20,000 people who signed the petition turn up to support their team because support is what Warrington Wolves need NOW!
