Toft

TOFT179 all out

Chester BH98 all out

IN blazing sunshine Toft won the toss and chose to bat on Saturday.

The decision was justified as they reached 159 for 3 wickets with Richard Hardstaff scoring a fluent 83 and Roy 42.

However, the next 11 overs saw seven wickets fall for the addition of only 20 runs and Toft were left all out for 179.

The score could have been within reach of Chester, but they were shot out for 98 to give Toft victory by 81 runs.

The hero of the Toft bowlers was Matt Cornes who bowled with aggression and pace.

He finished with figures of 11.5 overs, four maidens, 36 runs and six wickets.

Toft players later claimed their performance was marred by several allegedly dubious decisions by the umpire which went against both teams.

Next Saturday, Toft travel to Oxton, who have beaten them three times already this season.

They have fallen to the opposition in the league and twice in knock-out competitions.
