WE read so much about the down side of the NHS I would like to write about the good side, especially the Birchwood Medical Centre.

My mother was discharged from Warrington Hospital five weeks ago after falling and breaking her hip on Easter Sunday. She was far from well and at 92 years of age, but in possession of ALL her faculties, she needed expert medical attention.

From the day she came home we could not have asked for better care from the doctor, district nurses, night nurses and carers alike. Her age was never an issue. The Social Services provided all the equipment necessary to try to make life more comfortable for her, nothing was denied to us.

As you will see I do not live in Warrington but I gave what help I could to my sister with whom my mother lived, and so I have seen at first hand the wonderful care provided by the staff of the Birchwood Medical Centre.

It is I am sure a unique centre, and all its staff should be recognised for their expertise, kindness and caring.

The residents of Birchwood are very fortunate indeed.

I would like to extend my thanks, and those of all my family, to all the superb people who have helped to make my mother's last days at home more bearable for her.
