EAGLE RUFC started their season with a trial game at home against Prescot which resulted in a 20-10 win.

Man of the match Tim Rhodes, playing his first game for two years, said straight after the game: After all the hard work it was nice to finally get the season started.

If all the players continue to put in the hard work we can look forward to a successful season.

Eagle dominated the opposition but a lack of cutting edge saw the first two quarters finish scoreless.

The second half saw the introduction of regular scrum half Mark Simmons and Eagle started to play to a pattern and started to get the results that their effort deserved.

Two pin-point cross field kicks saw Barry Gettins and John Gaskell score.

The final quarter saw Eagles pack turning the screw and constantly driving the Prescot pack off the ball.

This enabled the Eagle backs the confidence to run the ball at will, which resulted in an excellent try for Paul Scott.

Eagle finished with a blind side move after Graeme Taylor took a scrum against the head and Mike Bridge scored.
