OVER Peover won by three wickets against visitors Trafford Metrovick and maintained their place near the top of the league.

TMV made a confident start putting on 35 for the first wicket, but were pegged back to 41 for 4.

The middle order staged a gradual recovery which led to a late flurry and took the visitors to 143 all out.

For Peover Ben Nightingale took 2 for 51, Neil Mills 2 for 24, Danny Ruddock 1 for 18 and Mark Nightingale 4 for 35 including (three wickets in four balls in the final over.)

The Peover reply started comfortably with Kirby Whittaker (12) and Eddie Bones (23) putting on 33 for the first wicket.

John Bodimeade, top-scoring with 38, and Robin Bones (13) kept Peover on target, leaving 36 runs to win off the last seven overs. Danny Ruddock played the anchor role with 18 not out, while Matthew Tucker hit two sixes in his 21.

Ben Nightingale duly clipped a four off his first ball to give Peover victory with one over to spare in an entertaining match.

On Saturday Peover are at home to Norbury and on Sunday meet Castrol in the final of the 1st XI knockout.

The latter game will be played at Alderley Park.
