Mobberley 1st124 all out

Hale Barns 1st125 for 8

MOBBERLEY Cricket Clubs recent poor form continued at relegation-threatened Hale Barns.

Captain Simon Burgess lost an important toss and Sinclair and he put Mobberley in to bat on Saturday.

John Gibbon and Adam Locke fell cheaply and Tim OShea was trapped LBW by Saddington.

Adam Caro and Dave Wood took the attack to the bowlers with Caro scoring 31 and Wood making 33.

Burgess scored some late, but valuable runs before he was caught on 32.

Nick Jones and Andy Potts then added to Mobberleys total of 124 all out.

The away teams bowling attack were without strike bowlers John Whittick and Trev Cooper.

It was left to Bithell and Lincoln to open, but as usual Sinclair enjoyed the Mobberley bowling and got Hale Barns off to a good start with Peers.

Peers was out for 11 and ex-Mobberley player Flatman was soon to follow and lasted only two balls.

A steady flow of wickets followed as the Mobberley bowlers began to make inroads into the Hale Barns middle order.

Burke was trapped LBW by Jim Wheeldon, who was making a well-deserved return to first eleven action following a shoulder operation.

Wheeldon then struck again as Johnson was brilliantly caught by Jones.

Hale Barnes Molloy was out for a duck and became Wheeldons third victim.

However, a late rally by Saddington (29 not out) and Sproston (28) steered Hale Barns to victory.

The pick of the Mobberley bowling was Bithell (2 for 24) and Wheeldon (3 for 30.)

Adam Caro was man of the match for his 31 with the bat and bowling figures of 11.1 overs four maidens 2 for 24.

Next week they travel to Cholmondeley as they try to boost their chances of remaining in the Cheshire County League.
