A TALE of missed chances was told as Crewe FC dominated proceedings at Garswood but still lost out 1-0.

The team fell foul of an early strike from a quick free kick which was not picked up by the defenders in the seventh minute.

Crewe dominated for the next 80 minutes spurning several chances with Griffith hitting the cross bar and Lock hitting the post.

The defeat was the fourth out of five for Crewe this season and leaves them second bottom of the Mid-Cheshire League with one point.

Manager Ian O'Riely admitted it was a shock to the system after the team only lost four games all of last season but maintained the squad was not at its strongest.

"We will turn it around and I am not too worried about it as we do have three key members of the team suspended," he said.

"I was more than pleased with the performance and am hopeful we can build on that.

"Results have not been going on performances and we just need to get back on the right track," he added.

The key players out are midfielders Adam Vickers and Danny Brazendale along with goalkeeper Steve Harding.

The three are suspended for one more game and will all miss the trip to Grove, nr Stockport, next Saturday.
