THE FA Cup may often be filled with wonder for the smaller clubs but this meeting saw a weakened Nantwich side overpowered 7-0 by the Dr Martens League outfit.

Things were looking good for Nantwich at half-time with a deficit of just 1-0 and they could have been 2-1 to the good.

Chadwick had struck the post early in the first half and another simple chance had been missed.

In the second 45 it took the side from Leicestershire until 70 minutes to reach 3-0 and as Nantwich pushed forward the flood gates opened although Chandler provided a ray of light when he struck the crossbar with a fine effort.

Nantwich manager Dave Cooke was realistic after the game: "We were four players down and so I was not too disappointed," he said.

Nantwich were hosting St Helen's on Tuesday night and had striker Dawson and defender Morris back.

The team will also be bolstered by forthcoming return of midfielders Sutton and Bentley.

Nantwich Town will be in action again tomorrow away to Maine Road with the match beginning at 7.45pm.
