A GROUP of young-at-heart friends are on a quest to reunite Verdin Grammar School's 'class of 1966'.

Susan Garnett (nee Cornes) and Avril Morgan (nee Dean) have set a date of Saturday, November 4 for a reunion of their old school pals who went to Verdin Grammar from 1961 to 1966.

They have already managed to track down 75 using an old school photo, but now they are appealing to Guardian readers for help.

"We can remember lots of names from the photo and that they were from Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich," said Susan.

"But Avril and I have had to work really hard. It has been extremely difficult for us to track people down, particularly with women changing their names when marrying.

"Everyone from the year will have celebrated, or be just about to celebrate, their 50th birthday this year - that should be quite a reminder!"

Ex-pupils are coming from as far as Wolverhampton, Rugby and Devon. Susan and Avril have even traced one old school friend who lives in New Zealand. Now they are hoping to find the rest of the people from the photo in time for the November reunion.

Susan said: "We would love to see all the people again and find out what they are doing now. We are in touch with a few but it would be fantastic to hear from everyone again."

If you were in the class of '66 or know someone who was, ring Susan on 832706 or Avril on 833115.
