NORTHWICH'S title hopes have come to a dismal end, after only being able to muster 10 players for the trip to Langley on Saturday.

They went home well beaten after making 107 on a pitch that was barely playable. Andrew Pickstock dominated the innings with a defiant 63.

Langley lost wickets at regular intervals, but made the target with four wickets to spare.

Northwich 2nds went the same way, going for just 88 at home to Barrow, Steve Oldham scoring 40. Barrow only lost one wicket in their run chase.

This Saturday, both Northwich sides face Kingsley, 1sts away, 2nds at home, 1.30pm starts.

SAM Shepherd's 56 and Phil Sharples' unbeaten 41 were the highlights of Davenham's innings in their draw with Lindow.

They made 132-8 after Lindow declared on 156-5. Paul Wright took 2-39, but Prakesh Joshi played the innings of the day, making 62 not out.

John Cwklinski notched 5-30 and William Hetherington 2-29 as Davenham 2nd XI beat Lindow by three wickets. Andy Jones scored 54 not out.

This weekend, it's Chelford for Davenham, 1sts home, 2nds away.

WEAVERHAM continued their form with a win over Old Parkonians, Alan Bell making 34, Richard Goodier and Steve Robertson 20 each in their total of 146-8.

Skipper Jon Lightfoot took 4-32, Jamie Allen 4-32 and Bell 2-20 to dismiss their opponents for 77.

Weverham 2nds slumped to 80 all out and were beaten by eight wickets. Henry Kazmiercak was their top scorer with 21 not out.

BARNTON's batting finally produced the goods against Trinity on Saturday. Steve Crawford scored a rapid 22, then Darren Falland smashed 73, including three big sixes.

Keith Noden played the anchor role for 21 and Richard Watkins hit 20 as Barnton closed on a season's best 194-8.

Trinity found Dharmesh Manubhai's pace (4-23) and Nigel Hart's persistence (2-30) a tough proposition. Dave Ollier and Phil Garner came on to pick up two wickets each as they were bowled out for 86.

OAKMERE secured a position in the top flight of the Meller Braggins League with a thrilling victory at Runcorn.

The after effects of Paul Hutchinson's engagement party were all too evident early in the day as the hosts notched an impressive 175-8.

Paul Guildford blew away the hangovers with a 76, and skipper Nick Talbot-Butler hit the winning runs with just one ball remaining to see them home at 179-6.

Oakmere 2nds remain in top spot after an 8-wicket win on Saturday, making the most of the Runcorn captain sending off one of his players for insolence!

Eddie Gibson took 6-45, John Crouchley 2-11 as Runcorn were bowled out for 84 in 44 overs.

Memories of last week's first defeat came flooding back as Ian Morgan and Steve Hardman were out cheaply, but Tom Denton (36no) and Jamie Macken (32no).

They saw their team home to 87-2.
