Warrington Town2
A THIRD win inside eight days led to Warrington opening their FA Cup campaign on a triumphant note on Saturday.
Town, who have not progressed beyond the first qualifying round stage of the competition since 1994, excelled in overcoming the difficult challenge of their Northern Counties East League Premier Division opponents in this preliminary round clash.
Their reward for an accomplished team performance against an over-physical Yorkshire side is a home tie against Clitheroe on September 16.
Substitute Andy Barr, who replaced injured Tyrrell after 32 minutes, made the best of his opportunity by netting Warrington's second goal and going close on at least three occasions to adding to his tally.
He linked particularly well up front with Neil Holden with both of them causing continual problems for the home defence.
Holden steered Town in front in the 48th minute after galloping on to a through ball by Ian Callaghan before dispatching a 15-yard shot.
Town: McCormack, Callaghan, Cartledge, McClelland, Harris, Tague, Pick, Tickle, N. Holden, Tyrrell (Barr 32mins), Morgan, Subs not used: Bushell, Blair.
