A REPORT into allegations against Leader of Congleton Borough Council Linda Short and husband Malcolm has been completed - but the results may still not be made public.
Clr Short refused to stand down after allegations that she and her husband had breached national and local codes of conduct.
The exact nature of the allegations was not revealed and could remain a secret permanently.
Independent inspector, Michael Ellison, completed the report and has sent copies to Mr and Mrs Short. They will make a formal response at a meeting of Congleton Borough Council's new standards committee on December 11.
Mr Ellison is a solicitor working for SOLACE (Society of Local Authority Chief Executives). He was chief executive at Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council for 15 years and is now on the Lord Chancellor's panel of independent inspectors.
Full council will meet on December 14 to decide whether the contents of the report should be made public.
