PENSIONERS' Association chairman Harry Mooney is hoping to persuade Winsford Town Council to reconsider its decision to move the town's war memorials.
Mr Mooney has submitted a 500-strong petition to the council which is planning to move the memorials further down the precinct to the end section of Fountain Court.
The pensioners have threatened to blockade any attempts to move the war memorials, but Mr Mooney, 81, hopes it does not come to that.
He said: "I have said to the town council if you don't give us an answer I cannot stop our pensioners marching."
The pensioners believe moving the memorials would be an insult to the men and women who lost their lives.
The Grainger Trust, which manages the shopping centre, consulted the town council and representatives from the Royal British Legion before deciding to move the memorials, but did not consult Vale Royal Pensioners' Association, Winsford.
Winsford Town Council has noted Mr Mooney's request.
The Winsford branch of the Pensioners' Association, is holding its annual dinner tomorrow, Thursday. The first pick up will be at Winsford Civic Hall at 6.30pm with all the usual stops before arriving at the Oaklands.
