MICHAEL Greenwood's 1-12-2 was enough to win Barnton & Frodsham Angling Club's fifth round of the Brown Cup series, held on the top and middle cisterns at Anderton.
Presentation was made difficult by strong winds which gradually lightened throughout the morning.
Michael drew peg 5 on the top and used squatt and pinkie to take about 40 small rudd and perch with an odd gudgeon from in between the weed beds to claim top spot.
Second placed Chris Parry, drawn peg 1 on the middle, used big red maggot to take a net of all rudd from in the corner reeds, to place 1-6-12 in the weigh sling.
That narrowly pushed Dave Cowley into third from the next peg, whose catch was made up of a single skimmer of 12 ozs plus small perch, all taken on worm for 1-6-2.
Trevor Jones held on to his points lead in the series, but he had it cut by one after a fourth placing on the day. It leaves it all down to the sixth and final round on Heesom's Pool, where anything can happen.
