SHARP shooter Danny Graystone has Stalybridge Celtic in his sights again.

Graystone scored his third in as many games last Tuesday as Albion went out of UniBond Cheshire Senior Cup to Phil Wilson's men.

But the 2-1 defeat has given Witton hope they can pull off a second round upset, even if their hosts are on a high following their top of the table 4-2 win over Emley at the weekend.

"Last week was quite a surprise because out of the teams I've played from that division, including Burscough, they were probably the worst," said Graystone.

"I think we should have won. After the game Nigel (Gleghorn) and Eddie (Bishop) said we played really well, but we are creating chances and not finishing teams off."

Even though they are unbeaten in the UniBond Premier, Graystone feels the Stalybridge style is more suited to Witton's football.

"Stalybridge tended to sit back and let us play, which no team lets us do in our division," he added. "We were surprised with the amount of time we got on the ball. That played into our hands.

"If they play like that it's definitely going to be a close game. The difference was they finished off two of their chances while we only finished one of our six or seven."

But for Graystone the goals are flying in at last, but he has revealed the reasons for the dip in form which cost him his place in the side during Albion's faltering September.

A series of personal problems, including the death of his step-mother, halted his promising start to his second season in the red and white.

"It made me put things into perspective. Every footballer has their own life behind the game and I had a few problems, but I'm back on the right track," Graystone added.

"A lot of it is to do with fitness, I was getting very tired in games. But now, instead of begging the referee for the final whistle it's coming without me realizing it."

Although there was more cause for concern about Albion's form up front, it was goalkeeper Rob Montgomery who became a casualty of the defeat.

He was released and, following training on Thursday night, manager Gleghorn signed Matthew Blair from Selby Town as cover for Dean Greygoose.

Martin Faulkner could return for Witton, and Steve Haw will take Gleghorn's place while he recovers from a knee operation, due on Thursday.

Lee Anderson and Paul Hennin are still recovering from injury.

Of his team's chances at Bower Fold, Gleghorn said: "It's going to be tough because Stalybridge are undefeated, but we always seem to give them a game as our style of play causes them problems.

"But we have to give them the respect they deserve, as I'm sure they will be giving to us.

"I'd rather win on the day than take it to a replay, but we need to play with a structure which stops them scoring.

"We're starting to knuckle down and play well, and if we play the way we can we could cause an upset."
