A PARENT is extremely angry about the way her teenage son has been treated - after he was attacked near to Hartford Video Store, in Chester Road.

Linda Holmes says her son suffered a broken elbow and cut to his side after another youngster set on him, while others looked on.

He had also been suffering from pneumonia and had resulting chest problems from the attack which happened on November 3.

Linda claims that police have failed to take any action against the youth who attacked him or any of the nine other youngsters involved.

Her 14-year-old son is terrified and has begged his mother not to do anything for fear of reprisals.

But Linda, aged 45, is determined to speak out in a bid to try and find a way to sort the problem out.

"I have had to watch my son lying there suffering, struggling for breath and having to go through painful x-rays," she said.

"I'm sure there are decent parents out there, there must be something we can do to stop this problem.

"I'm willing to meet with anyone who will help. I don't mind putting a disco on once a week at Winnington Rec. We've had Homewatch well what about Kidwatch?"

Linda has spoken personally to three parents of children who were at the incident. They were horrified and have taken action accordingly.

But she believes that other parents do not know their children were involved and believes they would be equally horrified.

"If police don't speak to these youngsters - how are their parents going to know?," she said.

Video shop owner David Lloyd told the Guardian he didn't ring the police because he wasn't aware the incident was going on outside.
